Wash You Away
by Geraldine King
I tried to love you, but I cannot even love myself
I think it’s because you remind me too much of my cousin
I don’t laugh at those NDN snagging jokes about cousins
Because I know what it feels like to sit in the hot shower
Hoping that the burning droplets of water will wash him off
I couldn’t love you because he took that away from me
He took you away from me.
